Yara Al-Raqe’: The Deanship of Student Affairs Nurtured My Talent and Developed My Leadership Skills

At the beginning of my university journey, I joined the student club community, where, with the support of the Deanship of Student Affairs, my leadership talent was nurtured and developed. I started as Vice Leader of the Digital Minds Club, an opportunity that proved to be a valuable experience and paved the way for various leadership roles in other clubs, including the Google Developer Student Club and Edha’ah Club.

More recently, I worked alongside a group of talented students to establish the Artificial Intelligence Club. This gave me the opportunity to collaborate with officials from the Deanship of Student Affairs in reviewing and proofreading content and announcements before publication. Thankfully, during its very first semester, my team achieved second place in the media evaluation of central student clubs. The club later achieved third place at the Student Activities Closing Ceremony, through which the Deanship recognized students’ efforts and highlighted the importance of student clubs and their contributions.

One of the most influential workshops in my leadership journey was titled “Inspirational Leadership,” held during the first annual KKU EXPO for Career Readiness under the sponsorship of the Deanship. Prominent student leaders were selected to deliver workshops, and I continue to benefit from that experience to this day.

During my participation in the welcoming ceremony for new female students in 1444 AH, I witnessed the Deanship’s commitment to welcoming and guiding new students as they began their university journey. Student clubs were also given the opportunity to introduce themselves and open registration, helping to harness the potential of the University’s male and female students and attract individuals seeking to apply their experience, develop their skills, contribute to others, and benefit from these opportunities themselves.

Recently, I was nominated to represent my beloved country and University as an ambassador to Japan on one of the Deanship’s trips aimed at enriching students’ cultural, academic, and social experiences.

During the visit, I asked the Saudi Ambassador to Japan what message he would like to share with the young men and women of Saudi Arabia. He responded that our generation enjoys opportunities and blessings that were not available to previous generations and encouraged us to make the best possible use of them.

My personal principle, and my advice to fellow students, is to embrace new experiences, as they are fundamental to personal growth. Make your surroundings a source of motivation for progress, never allow fear or hesitation to become a barrier to your creativity, and approach every endeavor with sincere intentions and trust in God.

In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Deanship of Student Affairs for everything it has provided throughout my university journey and for nurturing our talents. I pray that God continues to bless our beloved University with success and rewards the efforts of everyone who contributes to its achievements.
