Volleyball Championship

College of Engineering Club Advances in Volleyball Championship at the 10th Sports Olympiad

As part of the 10th Sports Olympiad organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Deanship's Student Activities Agency, the College of Engineering Club participated in the volleyball championship on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The team played its first match in the Round of 32 against the College of Architecture and Planning Club at the university sports hall in Al-Faraa campus.

The match concluded with the College of Engineering's victory by a score of (0-3) after the College of Architecture and Planning team withdrew from the game. This win advances the College of Engineering team to the next round of the championship, boosting their chances in the competition.

The event took place at the College of Arts and Humanities' club venue and witnessed the participation of over 50 contestants.

The event aimed to enhance students' public speaking and vocal skills, providing them with an encouraging platform to showcase their talents. The event received significant engagement from attendees, with participants demonstrating enthusiasm and creativity in their performances.

Applied Medical Sciences Club in Mahayel Asir Organizes Health Awareness Lecture Titled "Protect Yourself"

In collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and in partnership with the Nursing College (Male Students' Section), the Applied Medical Sciences Club in Mahayel Asir organized a health awareness lecture titled *"Protect Yourself"*, presented by Mr. Yasser Asiri.

The lecture focused on the modes of infection transmission and the precautions necessary to limit its spread. Mr. Asiri shared valuable insights that help students protect themselves and others from infectious diseases. Additionally, informational brochures were distributed to students, containing practical tips on infection prevention.

The event concluded with a speech by Dr. Mohamed Al-Bashtawi, who offered further advice to students on the importance of adhering to preventive measures to maintain personal and public health.

"Safety in Laboratories" Event at the College of Sciences to Raise Awareness on Laboratory Safety

The College of Sciences, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs for Student Activities and in partnership with the College's Occupational Health and Safety Committee, organized an educational event titled *"Safety in Laboratories"* on Tuesday, 28th of Rabi' al-Awwal 1445 AH, in the atrium of the College of Sciences. This event aimed to raise awareness among students about the critical safety measures and guidelines that should be followed within laboratories to ensure a secure working and learning environment.

The event featured a comprehensive presentation by Professor Ahmed Fouda, Chair of the College’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee, who emphasized the importance of adhering to safety regulations in the labs. He outlined the main mechanisms and procedures that are in place to maintain safety, along with an explanation of the various safety signs and symbols commonly found in laboratories, and the classification of chemicals based on their hazards to mitigate potential risks.

The event also included an exhibition where Dr. Mohamed Turki Abdel-Samee from the Biology Department and Dr. Omair Al-Qahtani from the Chemistry Department showcased the essential safety equipment available in the laboratories of different departments. They demonstrated the correct use of these tools and distributed informational brochures highlighting the key safety symbols and the hazards of different substances.

Around 60 students from various departments attended the event, expressing their satisfaction with the opportunity to learn about the essential safety precautions in laboratories. At the end of the event, participating faculty members guided the students on a tour of selected laboratories, showcasing the safety precautions in practice.

The College of Arts and Humanities, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs and in partnership with the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Al-Qaraa, organized a health awareness campaign titled *"Our Health is a Responsibility"* on Tuesday, 28th of Rabi' al-Awwal 1446 AH. This campaign is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance health awareness among university students.

The campaign, held in the atrium of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining their health by providing valuable information on healthy living. The event featured various activities focused on raising awareness, such as distributing educational brochures that explained the importance of proper nutrition and its impact on overall health. The campaign also highlighted the significance of regular physical activity and adopting healthy daily habits.

In addition, free health consultations were provided by specialists, offering students practical advice they could incorporate into their daily routines. The campaign received a large turnout, with students expressing keen interest and engagement with the presented materials, reflecting their commitment to improving and maintaining their health.

This campaign exemplifies the university's mission to promote health awareness among its students and assist them in adopting healthier lifestyles that enhance both their academic and personal lives.

The “Safahat” Club, in collaboration with the College of Languages and Translation Club at King Khalid University, organized an event titled “World Translation Day” on Monday, 27th of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1446 AH, at 10:00 AM in the central library in Al-Qaraa. The event was held to celebrate International Translation Day, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of translation and culture and their role in bridging communication between different peoples.

The program began with cultural information about the history of translation, highlighting its evolution and significance in transferring knowledge between civilizations. The event also included interactive activities where visitors enthusiastically answered cultural questions and wrote down their favorite quotes.

Attendees benefited from the event by gaining new insights into translation, fostering a love for literature and books, and exchanging information and experiences among participants.

College of Applied Medical Sciences Marks International Day of Older Persons under the Theme “We Will Not Forget You”

On Monday, September 30, 2024, the College of Applied Medical Sciences celebrated the International Day of Older Persons under the theme “We Will Not Forget You.” The event was inaugurated by the university’s Dean, Dr. Majid Al-Fai’a, with participation from all departments in both the male and female sections of the college. Each of the five departments provided detailed explanations of the diseases that may affect the elderly, alongside preventative measures and treatments. Through iPad presentations and hands-on demonstrations led by the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences, visitors were also offered the opportunity to visit the college clinics as needed, under the supervision of the department’s faculty members

The Pharmacy College Club at King Khalid University organized an event in celebration of “World Pharmacists Day” in the university’s conference hall, which also featured a celebration of National Day. The event was attended by several local and international pharmaceutical companies, and students showcased their talents in various fields.

The event included lectures and seminars delivered by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ali Al-Bassami, along with several experts from companies, hospitals, and community pharmacies. The goal of the event was to highlight the role of pharmacists in society and showcase the talents and contributions of pharmacy students.
